Rust backed off, holding both his hands up as the international sign of peace.
"Okay, woah, let's calm down a bit here, Ace..." he spoke slowly again. "I'm sorry...I got worked up by the whole thing and...yeah, emotions are running high."
Eventually, they managed to find the path where they had originally entered. With a sigh of utmost relief, Rust de-activated the AA, using both his hands to rub at his head.
Her complaints about cigarettes brought back a slight pang in his gut. He could really use one right about no-NO! YOU DON'T NEED THEM! DON'T LISTEN!
Mentally berating himself, he just chose to ignore her questions, still rubbing at his head as he dealt with the backlash of punching the sharguana twice. No cigarettes needed. None at all. Not now. Not ever. No cigarettes.
"What do I think?" he eventually spoke, throbbing in his forehead dying down somewhat, "I think that maybe we need to be more careful around frigging ponds."
Looking up, he met Ace's eyes seriously. For a moment he stared...then a small smile grew on his face. It got wider and wider until he couldn't help it and just started to laugh.
""Down the hell you go?" What am I, nine years old?" he gasped out, still laughing his head off. "I'd never be a superhero on grounds that I can't make up a one liner to save my life!"

Ace let out a sound of frustration, "Thank god we're nearly out of this hell hole." She said, perturbed. She noticed he didn't answer her query about cigarettes and so just winced occasionally at the absense thereof.
It didn't take long to notice that Rust was turning demented. "Yeah, a lack of ponds would be entirely appreciated." She agreed. Then he started to smile, and this grew wider and wider. He was looking at her eyes, and Ace glanced away feeling uncomfortable.
When he started quoting himself from earlier though, Ace couldn't help but raise an eyebrow and chuckle slightly, "Yeah that was... preetty bad." She laughed, "You could always be the sidekick though," She joked, "I personally think I'd be a fucking kickass villain. I don't think hero would suit me. Maybe antihero. Maybe." She conceded.
"Now that's a fairytale." She said with a grin.

"Sidekick?! Damn it, woman!" Rust shot back, bombastic and still laughing his head off. "Well, as long as I don't have to wear my underwear on the outside of my trousers, I guess it wouldn't be that bad. And if you called yourself something cliche like the Ace of Spades or the Black Queen or something like that, I'd go against you out of prinicipal."
Clearly going off on a comic book spiel, Rust just tried to calm his laughing fit down. Hell, they'd just gotten away from a massive sharguana! Why couldn't he be happy?
Sighing with mirth near the end, Rust grinned at Ace broadly.
"Well, I can't say that this Induction Day has been boring to say the least. Not many new guys get to punch a shark on the mouth on their first day."

Ace laughed, "What's wrong with that? Nah, I like singular titles, maybe I'd just be a 'The' before 'Ace'... What about 'Lady Luck' or something?" She joked, as she seriously wouldn't be caught dead with a name like that. "What about you eh? What would you call yourself?"
She thought about this preplexed, "What has 3 arms. Does anything?" They were approaching the end of the forest now, and Ace gave a sigh of relief.
"Not many indeed. Well I showed you somethin' anyway, so you can't really complain. At least not while I'm around." She told him. She adjusted the backpack on her back. He seemed to be exceedingly happy about their current situation, and Ace couldn't particularly blame him. She was simply relieved. "You know you're a man when you punch a shark in the face." She added.

"Just call me 'THA CLAAAAAAAAAW'," Rust chuckled, saying it just like the green aliens from Toy Story. "That'll reel the kids in for merchandise because single names are xtreme and kool, man." Finally stopping his laughter entirely, he faced Ace and offered his hand.
"Seriously though, thanks for the assist there, Ace." the mechanic spoke sincerely. "That was some epic shooting right there and I'd have been a goner without it. I owe you a drink sometime..."
He then remembered, sucked in a breath and continued.
"Or a pack of smokes."

Ace shook her head, "You do that, you sell out." She snarked with a grin. He offered her his hand and she just looked at it for a few seconds. He thanked her and ace's eyebrow raised, "Dude, what else was I supposed to do?" She said easily. Instead of shaking his hand she gave him a singular hearty pat on the side of the arm and let it drop, like a bro. "No problem."
"A pack of smokes or a drink would be great right now. Preferably both." She said simply, "wouldn't you say?"

Rust let his hand drop and grinned, giving the same gesture back.
"Well, call it my upbringing. I didn't use good manners, I got hurled through the damn ceiling." he explained with a helpful little shrug. "Moms are generally strict on that kind of thing and mine was no exception, let me tell you. Being an only child means 100% of her attention and...well, let's say she used it well."
He nodded at her suggestion.
"Yeah, they do both sound goo-I mean, drink only for me, thanks." Rust quickly corrected himself. He gave a mock pout. "Man, you are not going to make this easy for me, are ya?"

Ace gave a light chuckle at that which sort of faded off. She hadn't any similar stories to tell. Well she decided to throw in, "Yeah, I was an only child too..." At least she was raised as such, whether she was or wasn't she hadn't a clue. Well, she remembered distantly having foster siblings, but for the life of her she couldn't remember their names.
"Drink only for you so? Well, since you're being all good and all, we'll reward you with doubles, whatdya say?" She said with a grin peeping out the corner of her mouth.

The mechanic whistled.
"Ace, you are one of a kind. Let's get going. Hopefully the cafe you show me doesn't have Godzilla's little brother as the cashier or I might think you're actively trying to kill me." Rust replied with a smirk. "Besides, need to know where the shops and cafes are, or I won't have places to hide from lecturers in."
Walking slowly along the path, Rust checked over his shoulder again, just to double check there was no Mommy Sharguana following them.
"So...you ever heard of anything like that thing before?"

Ace laughed, "If I was actively trying to kill you Rust, we wouldn't be having this conversation." She said lightly, obviously granting him a lot of comfort. "It's around the corner from the dorms, so it is. I'm parched..."
They slowly left the forest, the sky was visible now, and the trees a lot more sparse. It was like entering an entirely different world.
"Dude, I haven't before seen a shark OR an iguana in real life. As for that noise? It's similar to a whale, a bear, and a cascada. These sounds shouldn't mix, but it's all I can reckon it's like." She said, not thinking too much about it at the moment. She couldn't hear it really anymore now, she was too far away, though she was sure it would haunt her dreams, along with the nightmares she already had. Fantastic.

Rust slowly nodded, before patting Ace on the shoulder seeing her troubled look about the noise.
"Hey, we got out of there. That's the important thing, right?" he reassured her. "Besides, can only stay for a bit. Still gotta get signed up fully. Not even a student yet and I'm getting into wacky hijinks."
He thought for a moment before shrugging.
"And maybe grab a dorm too. I got signed up for Dorm 9 as far as I know."

She nodded, "Right then. Have fun with that, I'm sure you'll see me around then, I'm in 5." She said with her half-grin. She turned then towards the café, "It's this way, dorms too." She explained.
"So what do you think about it so far, newbie? You know, fresh meat better watch their back." She said with a rough nudge, a wider half-grin and another laugh.
