The smack against the back of his head did nothing to stop Rust continue to howl with laughter. In fact, he grabbed the hand with his own after the slap had been delivered to stop her whacking away even more.
He just about calmed down and was nodding at her agreement to next Friday...when she gave him the Look. He held it for a few seconds, looking slightly fearful...
"Pffft...BWAHAHAHA!!!!"
He couldn't help it. Still holding her hands to stop her smacking him even more, Rust eventually stopped laughing, breathing heavily. He let go to let her cross her arms and look off as he wiped a tear of laughter from his eye.
"Oh...oh god damn, Ace..."
He leaned over and rested his arm around her shoulders as a sign of affection. Nothing romantic, just really good friends.
"I know I said this before, but mate? Never EVER change, got it?" he made her promise, squeezing her opposite shoulder slightly. Then, he remembered her earlier question.
"And I'll teach you how to play Smash Brothers. It's a promise."

Ace glared him down as he continued to laugh, and she jolted slightly whenever he went to grab her hands. She pulled them free with a bit of effort, turning a bit sour. She had realized he just didn't want her to hit him any more but didn't appreciate the contact too much.
She had her arms crossed then and simply waited for him to stop laughing. She pretty much figured there wasn't much she could say here to get him to stop. "You're hopeless." She said sourly after being laughed at.
He put his arm around her in a friendly way and Ace froze up for a moment, her shoulder muscles tightening. Rust then gave his little friendship mantra. "Rust. Bro. Hands." She said simply, giving a harsh critical gaze which dashed between the hand on her shoulder and his face. "Keep them to yourself. Word of warning." She left it at that, her eyebrow raised towards him..
He said he'd teach her how to play smash bros. "I don't know what it is, but whatever." She said with a shrug, wondering how long it would take him to move his arm. If it was any longer than 3 seconds, she planned to have words.

Instantly Rust let go and scooted down to the edge of the dock to give Ace space.
"Sorry. Didn't mean to cause offence." he muttered, looking back out to sea, jovial mood dampened. Maybe he had been a bit too touchy feely there.
Yeah, the guy with the floating ghostly arm is too touchy feely. Go figure.
He sighed.
"Next Friday then?" he muttered to her, looking ready to stand up and go.

Ace shrugged, "Worse things could happen." She said, a half-grin forming at the edge of her lips. After all, he had pulled his hand back. He'd listened to her. No harm, no foul. She looked out to the sea for a moment, after her words, same as he did. After a moment though, he gave a sigh and mumbled something about next friday.
Her grin grew a bit and she moved to try punch him lightly in the arm, "Cheer up dude, Next Friday! Try putting some fucking effort into it, eh? Would it kill you?" She said, noticing his posture and picking herself up off the dock. She bent down to pick up her backpack and jacket.
"It'll be a party to remember, am I right?" She said loudly, a grin spreading on her face. She turned to look back at him to see if he was coming with or not, and waited for him. If he was walking with her, she would have proceeded to push him towards the water with her elbow, playfully. She wouldn't have expected the force to push him in though.

Rust looked at her irritated.
"Now who's bloody bipolar?" he grumbled before smirking back at the blonde haired girl. "And yeah, next Friday. Bring the kegs!" Chuckling to himself, he got up and started walking back along with Ace, giving an Oof when she elbowed him in the side.
"Party to remember, yeah. Hope you'll remember this!"
He shoved her back with a laugh, nearly sending her toppling in the water again, before the Astral Arm snaked out, grabbed her by the waist and set her back on the dock once more.
Rust continued walking forward, whistling Welcome To The Jungle and staring straight ahead, hands in pockets.
"Saved your life~"

Ace shook her head, "Well you were getting all down and shit, Couldn't stand it, you look like a fish when you're down, dude." She said, barely holding a straight face. "Will do, Kegs will be brought. I'll order 'em tonight." She nodded in affirmation.
She didn't get much chance to wonder what he meant whenever he nearly pushed her back into the water before the astral arm reached back and puller her to safety. Her face grew red once more, but she burst into laughter at his claim 'saved your life~'.
"You fucking bastard!" She cried with a laugh, wishing she had something to throw at him, jogging a little to catch up. "You're such a dick." She said crudely, sticking out her tongue like a child.

"Yeah, but you said it yourself. You prefer me so much more when I'm a dick compared to when I'm a nice guy or mopey." Rust grinned, sticking his tongue out right back at her. "And I actually made you blush! I think that might be one for the record books!"
Cackling madly, he continued walking alongside Ace back to the mainland, cracking jokes and generally goofing off.
Things were definitely looking up.
Now, where was I meeting Gabrielle again?
