It was a bright and shiny morning. Saturday to be correct, the air was nice and the summer had made Sidra have a hankering for what she considered the food of the gods. A big heaping cup of black coffee and lovely pile of polish kolachies.
"Ohsweetmotherofdeliciousness" yes, one word, as she bit down in to the small sweet bread bun with sausage and cheese. It was absolute heaven. She let out a sigh, and her eyes rolled back in to her head, her taste buds danced with joy and her stomach thanked her.
Despite actually coming from Islamic and Jewish immigrants.Though they allways say not to, Pork and Beef, she did eat..she wasn't as kosher as her great grand parents from Russia and Syria. Her grandmother told her stories. Arabic stories of Aladdin, Ali Baba, and Sindbad, as well as the Russian stories from her grandfather's side. But the south (and the polish), that's where the Kolachies came from, little bits of heaven.
Sidra had a big grin on her face as her legs kicked. She was too short for the chair and looked a lot like a little kid eating doughnuts in an oversize jacket. She happily hummed a small tune, her cheeks full from the buns. As she chewed her food she looked around at the blue sky, she could easily see the stars

Unlike most guys, he had a sweet tooth and always seemed to be armed with candies. One could almost say that Noel seemed to be a walking candy factory!
It was still early and despite having a lollipop jammed between his teeth, the sugar in the lollipop was clearly not enough to start him up. He leaned lazily against the coffee maker, and accidently knocked over the cup, causing the coffee to spill on his white t-shirt. The coffee soaked through his shirt and the hot liquid touched his stomach, causing him to squeal and jammed his eyes shut. He turned around and grabbed a table cloth and wiped his shirt immediately, hoping to get as much fluid off his shirt as soon as possible.
Noel was definitely wide awake after that. He placed the cloth back on the table and got himself another cup of coffee, added with large amounts of milk and sugar. He held on to his cup carefully, and took a glance at his shirt. A large brown stain was screaming “Look at me!” to the other students in the café, as he blushed slightly and focused on his cup. Being in the center of attention was something that he wasn’t used to, and that kind of attention definitely the best type that anyone would like either.
The café was surprisingly crowded that morning and he was clearly having a hard time finding a place to sit. He noticed that a small girl sitting by herself and approached her, “Hi, is this seat taken?” He bit his lip slightly, hoping that the seat wasn’t occupied.

Sidra looked up at him, new possibly, or possibly just another person she had yet to meet. She gave a grin at his lolly pop, thinking it was too early for sweets, but that was never her call. She could feel the meat pastries squished up in her cheeks as she chewed it down. Sidra just stared at him for a moment before binding over and rummaging through an over-sized leather satchel. She said something,"Morhnang" but it couldn't be made out due to the over amount of food in her mouth.
The small person gave a couple of frustrated grunting noises as she pulled out a gray and red knitted button down sweater and handed it to the boy. She said something else but that was also probably inaudible. She tried to give a grin, but it looked more like a wide faced frog with puffed out cheeks.
Sidra gave large nod, almost shaking her whole body and pointed to the seat in front of her. It took a few more moments of chewing down the food before she actually swallowed. She was sure she looked like a spazz but that was completely in her nature. "Yes!" she finally managed to answer his question. Her voice was small, and slightly too high pitched but cherry and child-like despite her age. "Yeah, it's really crowded this morning for some reason. i guess people really want fuel"her words seemed to come out faster than her mouth could move.

It felt that he was being welcomed and that certainly felt pretty nice. An inaudible sound escaped her lips as her gums continued to move quickly, munching on the bun that she was holding in her tiny hands. His first reflex action was to say “huh?” but he bit his tongue, holding himself back. He didn’t want to seem rude on their first meeting.
The petite girl held out a small sweater and Noel tilted his head slightly. Soft groans came from her but Noel could hardly decode what she was trying to convey. He wondered whether she was had a speech deficiency and paused for a moment before breaking up his sentences. “This,” he stopped and pointed at the sweater, “for… me?”
He blinked slightly when the girl made suddenly movements and her whole body began to tremble. Noel thought that she had choked on her food for a second before she managed to get her food down her throat. As the words spill out of her tiny body quicker than a bullet train, he laughed and replied, “Thank you.”
The boy placed the coffee on the table gently and took a seat. “Morning, I’m Noel Black, pleased to be of acquaintance.” The little girl was like a doll that was placed with new batteries, filled with boundless of energy and joy. His mind drifted off to his sister for a moment before he stopped himself and reminded him to return to reality.
He took the sweater from her tiny hands and thanked her again and tried to put it on, but it was a little too small even for his lean built. He pulled out a couple of candies from his table and held it out, “Would you like a couple of candies? As a thank you for the sweater!”

She gave a laugh when Noel put the sweater on, he looked funny, the bottom stretched just before his hips and the arms only went three-fourths of the way down. It started with a snort but rumbled through her body, a loud laughter busted out of her. He looked funny. She didn't think he was that much bigger than her but then again she was only four feet tall.
After the bit of hysterical laughter, sidra quickly calmed down to see him holding out candy. This bit took her by surprise "Oh, thank you, can i save it for later?" she asked , a slight tilt to her head. She quickly grabbed the candy from his hand, only to further demonstrate the size of her. "Well Noel Black, I am Sidra and its lovely to meet you! you look about a few years younger than me. Are you a senior in High school right? bout seventeen?"
Sidra picked up the large mug of black coffee and took a sip. She watched him, his dark hair was messy and he looked like a normal teenager, maybe Jubil would look like him when he gets older. "how'd ya get the name Noel? Normally its a girls name, right? Well i guess it could be unisex..hmmm" she looked at him, her eyes squinting. "i ramble."
"A lot"

[/style] [STYLE=padding: 8px; font-family: arial; font-size: 10px; color: #2D2014; text-align: justify; margin-top: 0px; width: 276px;]The girl’s laughter reminded him of bells as it echoed through the café. He was pretty sure that the other students had glanced over their direction but it didn’t bother him that much. The little girl’s laughter was definitely worth being stared at. She was just like a little girl that jumped out from a story book! Noel can’t help but smile along. He decided to keep the sweater on. After all, it was of goodwill and it seemed as though she’d like him to wear it on, too.
Her tiny hand reached out for the candy and Noel could tell that she was definitely a lot smaller than he had in mind. His palm could easily be twice her size. Slight exaggeration, but he was sure it was roughly that much difference. “Sure, it was for you. I have a lot more in my pockets so if you’d like more, feel free to ask! Strawberry, caramel, watermelon, heck, I guess I even have a spinach flavor in there!”
Sidra. It was a name that was short enough for him to remember. Sidra had already left a deep impression on Noel, and it was clear that he wouldn’t be able to forget her comical actions anytime soon. Her question caught on him surprise. “Younger? You mean, you’re older than me?” His voice raised a few octaves higher as he was alarmed by her question. She seemed so tiny and fragile to him, Noel was almost sure that she was around thirteen. “Wow. You’re actually pretty close, I’m sixteen. But are you sure that I’m younger than you?” He raised an eyebrow and took another careful look at her.
Petite figure matched with a pair of alert black eyes, topped with a head of soft black hair, Noel can’t help but doubt her words. She still looked thirteen to him, no matter what angle he looked at her with.
Noel laughed at her question and grinned. “Well, that’s a strange question. I’ve never been asked that before, guess there’s a first time to everything! Let’s see…” He paused for a couple of moments before answering her question, “I guessed it was because I was born close to Christmas? I’ve never really asked my parents that before, but maybe they really wanted a daughter.” He laughed again before continuing, “Maybe. Just, maybe. I’ll ask them that when I see them.”
The boy picked up his cup of coffee with his right hand smiled, “It’s cool. In fact, I think it’s pretty great that you’re able to speak your mind.” He blew his coffee slightly, cooling it before taking a sip. At least this girl would be able to express her emotions, a girl stronger than his sister. His sister was never capable of conveying her thoughts well, even before she di—
Shut up. Shut up. Shut up. Noel felt the urge to stab himself for not being able to get over it after so long. He frowned a little and took another sip. Sidra was seated opposite him; her tiny body seemed to look even smaller in her outfit. He exhaled softly, reminding himself to relax. A small smile turned the side of his lips upwards.
“Mmm, nothing’s better than a cup of coffee to start the day off. My turn. Why are you called Sidra? That’s a pretty unique name.”

Sidra laughed when he commented about the spinnage, she never liked it but the candy would be curious. "Eewww, id get suck in my teeth" she laughed jokingly. He was like a mini candy mine, just dig in the pockets and baam. Candy. The candy reminded her of her grandfather, he always had peppermints on him. This fact made Sidra smile more.
"Yeah" Sidra piped up, giggling at the break in his voice. "I'm actually three years older than you, I'm nineteen, but my younger brother is twelve. hes a cutie, when you can get him to talk that it." She beamed with pride when she talked about her brother. He was strange shark toothed boy with a bad attitude but he tried to be a good person and that's all that mattered.
"Oh so its like the Angle, the one that came down when Jesus was born....i guess, yeah just ask your parents to make sure. I have a tenancy to make a lot of assumptions about people. " She laughed, she watched him sip his coffee and saw that he got sad.
Sidra didn't him to feel sad, she didn't want anyone to be sad. She knew that expression, the same one jubil would give when he wanted to give up on something. But Noel also had a lot of lonelyness in is face. "Its ok, who ever, or what ever it was...i know its sad now, but you will get better in time. When you make friends and people will help you. You know?" she said and then offered him a Kolachie.
"But yeah, Sidra, i was named after a lotus tree in heaven, It is the final Thing of heaven before nothing. Its a Tree of the Seventh Heaven, Sidrat Al-Muntaha, The tree of stars, and Sidra means of the Stars." she grinned "its an old Islamic name, my great grandfather was from Syria."

[/style] [STYLE=padding: 8px; font-family: arial; font-size: 10px; color: #2D2014; text-align: justify; margin-top: 0px; width: 276px;]Noel stared at her, flabbergasted. Her size and body language screams thirteen, but Noel guessed that it’s never good to judge a book by its cover. He wondered whether her brother would look like five if she’s nineteen yet seemed thirteen.
“Younger brother? I had a younger sister too. She should be around his age - perhaps a couple of years younger - if she was still here, I’m sure they’d hit it off pretty well. She’s really cute when she speaks, well, she clams shut pretty fast when she’s around outsiders.”
Noel realized that he had begun to slot a couple of past tense into his sentences when he was speaking about his sister to others. It was something that he’d tend to avoid, which caused a slight confusion in his tenses. A couple of past tenses to represent that she was gone, a couple of present tense showed that he was trying to deny it. Either way, it doesn’t really make much of a difference – she has already departed.
A small sad smile crossed his pale lips and he thanked the girl for the Kolachie. He held the Kolachie in-between his hands as he adjusted the position of the lollipop in his mouth. He waited for a couple of moments before placing the Kolachie on a small plate, “I’ll have it later, thank you.” The Kolachie’s aroma was delightful, but Noel didn’t really want to mix the food and candy in his mouth. Not wanting to come off as rude, he had decided to keep it for later.
He didn’t really catch what she was saying but from bits and parts of her speech, he guessed that her name origin from a lotus tree, or a star… Or both.
“You’re mixed blood? I couldn’t tell from first glance, but from what you’ve said you definitely sounded like you come from two different bloodlines,” he smiled while rolling up the sleeves of his sweater.

Sidra took another pastry and bit in to the soft bread. "Yeah," she said with her mouth half full. "I got a lotta different types of people in my family, Creole, Russian, Syrian, Greek aannnd Irish...i think"she said looking up at the sky with one eye and counting them on her fingers, as if she could see her entire family's linage in her head.
"So lets see, mother said that lineage was important, because each ancestor can tell you something different, for me, mom made me read a lot of like Mythological and religious text, everything really. for some reason she made me, she thought it was important, so did gran-gran" she smiled and took another bite of her food.
"Questions! OK, so why have you come to solstice?" she smiled, this was always her favorite part. She enjoyed seeing other peoples powers and people normally relaxed and built a trust bridge after the presentation was over.

[/style] [STYLE=padding: 8px; font-family: arial; font-size: 10px; color: #2D2014; text-align: justify; margin-top: 0px; width: 276px;]“Mhmm, that’s really interesting. My family’s pretty dry and plain. Just your average countryside boy.”
Noel couldn’t really comprehend what she was trying to say, but he found it interesting to have a story behind each ancestor’s footsteps. Gosh, he doesn’t even know the names of his ancestors before his grandmother!
The question caught him off-guard and he shifted slightly in his chair. It was clear that the question was bound to surface sooner or later in their conversation but he didn’t expect it to come along so quickly.
Should he or should he not spill the beans?
One could certainly say that your history has no ability to damage your future, but it was also your past that has molded you into who you are today. Noel has been trying to deny the fact that she has left this world, but there’s a tiny bit of him that screams for him to move on. Being able to describe his emotions might result in him breaking down in front of Sidra – a newly met acquaintance – or relieving him of the pain and agony.
Or maybe he should just make up a story on the spot.
“As you could probably tell, I’m pretty new to this academy, sent here against my will a couple of weeks ago.”
He paused slightly to take a short breath, unsure of his emotions at that moment. He continued, with emotions drained away from his face, not wanting to change the light atmosphere at that moment to a heavy, draggy one.
“I was sent here because…”
Damn. He couldn’t bring himself to lie to the girl that was sitting before him, her innocent eyes staring right at him. Forget it, he’s just going to be honest and say everything. It doesn’t matter anymore. To hell with overthinking. “Mm, sorry. Had to clear my mind for a while, didn’t mean to break up my sentences. Where was I? Oh, right. I had a younger sister, as I had mentioned earlier on. She should be around your brother’s age at this moment, but—“
He choked on his words, still unable to say that she had already passed away. Noel shook his head gently and urged himself to continue.
“But she had graduated from this sad world to the one above us. She was a shy, petite girl, awfully nice and sweet. Even though she was picked on by the rest, bullied so badly that she had wounds all over her arms, she’d keep them to herself. She’d never utter a single word of anger, even if I asked her where she had gotten those ugly bruises."
He sighed a little; the images are starting to haunt him again.
“I-I.. was only able to know the full story after she had j-jumped off the building.” His voice shook a little as he took a small breath. “Angry, I confronted the bullies. They sneered and made fun of her. That was the last straw. I cursed their fate, and all of a sudden, they were all covered in ice.”
His voice reduced to a mere whisper, “but I couldn’t bear to kill them. Useless, aren’t I? I broke the ice after a few moments. I just.. I just can’t. Bring pain to someone else because I was hurt wasn’t really part of who I am. Some of them suffered from serious hypothermia though, but that was all.”
The silence lingered in the air and he bit his lips. He needs to change the atmosphere but he had no idea what to say. “And that brings us to the end of my story,” he smiled gently, trying his best to bring everything back to how they were before. “So… Yeah. There was a guy in this academy that called me Ice Man,” he winked at Sidra, reminiscing his first meeting with Rust.
“What about you?”

Sidra watched him as he struggled to get the words from his throat. It was clear to her that Noel wasn't entirely ready to share this story, nor was he completely ready to let his sister go. Sidra was quiet for a long time after he stopped talking. She tried to imagine if Jubil did something like that, what she would do. If she would be able to keep on living.
Before she knew it , her eyes began to water over. She reached over and took Noel's hand. "I'm so sorry, i wasn't thinking, Everybody here has a bad story of which they come from, but yours, you clearly haven't moved from." She desprately wanted to make him feel better so she thought back, what did her grand mother do when she lost her mother and father?
Sidra stood up and walked over to him. She wraped her tiny arms around his neck and patted his head. Her cheek resting at the top. "Its ok if you wanna cry or get mad and yell, It still hurts but in time, the hurt might lessen" she said trying hard too keep her self from crying. "Im sorry, But hey, were frinds yeah? so we can go and have fun, forget all the bad in the world..." she kept patting his head as if he were a dog.

Breaking down in front of this little girl – which was older than him but still seemed so young – was something that he’d definitely want to avoid. It was clear to him that perhaps she’d be able to relate well to his situation, for she also had a younger sibling of her own.
No matter how much an older sibling teases the younger ones, they’d do anything to protect them.
Before he realized it, Sidra was tearing up instead of him. He lifted his hands to apologize, but the words seemed to be stuck in his throat. She held him hand tightly in her tiny palms, and apologized. Noel shook his head gently with a small smile hung across his face, “no, no. It wasn’t your fault. I’m sure you didn’t expected things to turn out like this…”
His voice slowly trailed off, lost for words. He had never wanted things to turn out this way. Never. What happened to the cheerful atmosphere from before? Did he destroy it? What had he done? Did he re—
The train of thoughts was cut off abruptly when Sidra hugged him. He was so lost in his own thoughts that he didn’t realize that she had left her seat and approached him. His eyes widened slightly, stunned and unable to think clearly. It has been too long since anyone had given him a hug. Since when did hugs felt that comforting? He had always only thought of hugs as a sign of welcome, a body language for a greeting. He didn’t know that hugs could be used this way.
No words were needed for a hug. Somehow, the body knew what the other person was trying to convey.
The warmth of her hands, the gentleness of her speech. A teardrop rolled down his cheeks and Noel found himself unable to stop the tears. All the tears that he had kept away, locked and buried deep inside his heart seemed to exploded. He just can’t stop.
Shaking slight, he held her hand gently, his eyes clouded with tears. “T-Thank you. It’s like, a heavy treasure chest has been removed from my shoulders. I have no idea how to thank you properly.”
He lifted a hand to wipe away a tear off her rosy cheeks. “Thank you. Shall we drop this topic and change back to a lighter atmosphere? Cute girls like you aren’t suited for tears.”
A small smile took over and the tears stopped. Perhaps there’s always a pot of gold at the bottom of a rainbow. Maybe his sister could finally find peace in the world above. Sometimes, it’s better to let go, rather than to hold on tight to everything.

Sidra pulled away and then bopped the top of his head with her small palm. It was meant to be a comforting gesture. But it was more like an over zealous pat."Yeah, yeah, yeah" she said quicly giving a smile and rubbing her eyes with her free hand. "I grant wishes" she said with a grin.
It was something she knew that made everyone happy. "and you make ice riight, that's up with the whole ice man thingy." she was talking none stop now. "There's a teacher here who's a hydroketicic. You can't miss her. Shes real tall and has white hair but she look real young and pretty. Not like teenage young, but she looks damn good for being over a hunnernd." She gave a wick nod, but it it was given with the effert of her hole body.
Her grin widened and she grabbed another meat pastry and put it in her mouth. "Kolachies" was all she said then, with a full mouth as she put his on top of his head. She let out a laugh and walked back to her seat. Sitting down with a hop.

He was glad that the mood was beginning to lighten up and he felt that a heavy burden had been lifted off his shoulders.
Wishes? He didn’t really take Sidra’s words seriously, because he wasn’t someone that believes in wishes. But deep down, he can’t help but feel that Sidra’s words were real. After all, in this academy, anything could happen. Anything. He brushed it aside though, if she could really grant wishes, it would be disastrous.
No, not in a bad way. It was lovely that she was like a tiny fairy godmother but what if he was devoured by greed? What if he couldn’t control himself and started to force wishes out of her? Noel knew that he wasn’t that kind of guy, but sometimes, human evil side tends to take over even if you didn’t really want it to happen.
“I’d love to meet her someday. Hydrokinetics? That sounds pretty similar to mine, except that mine is ice and hers is fluid.”
Sidra movements were quick and Noel can’t help but doubt whether she was really older than him. Either way, he should stop being so easily amazed by everyone in this academy. It’s about time for him to get used to all of these surprises.
“Sidra, just wondering… How did you arrive to this academy?”

Sidra gave a wide grin at his comment. "I think it might be the saggy hair" she laughed. She fidgeted in her seat, the metal was a bit hard on her bum but nothing a bit of wiggling couldn't fix. She never really liked the chairs, they always made her look like a little kid. Well she always looks like a kid and couldn't complain much about it. "I mean, i have rules to the wishes, only four per person because thats all the crazy i can mannage, no forced love, no rising people from the dead ect. ect."
"Yeah kinda, she teaches....Ethics, and Fencing...and something else, but she can control all states of water..and shes supposedly over two-hundred years old or something." when he asked the question she stopped for a moment, frozen and thinking on a what to say. "Well I'm here because of my brother. He has Nightmare and Chaos powers...he was the reason why our parents are dead, as well as grandma and why a boy in his class came down with a terminal illness. Oh and he killed our dog too" she said with a nod. She didn't seem particularly upset about it, but she didn't seem entirely proud of it either. "He..can't control his powers, so after our gran died i asked our grandfather if we could come here to help him...So here we are. Actually just recently i made a deal with a vampire who has a very big interest in him too. " she gave a shrug "I just gotta give him my blood ever two weeks or so"

I think you meant the idol-in-making hairstyle!” He responded with a cheeky tone. It was nice to be with Sidra for the vibes that she gave him was filled with innocence and purity, not a tiniest bit of scheme could be detected.
“Whoa, over two hundred years old? That’s some cool skills she has there! Are you sure that she’s still hot? Mmm, fencing seems interesting. I haven’t joined any clubs nor have I attended a single lecture but I do have a little interest in fencing. Perhaps I could drop-by for one of their club activities.”
Little did Noel know that beneath this little girl’s petite figure was built upon such so much history. He was stunned and can’t seem to be able to respond to her. He picked up his cup of coffee and took a couple of sips and placed the lollipop stick gently on the plate.
“You’re a really strong girl for your age.”
He turned his head and took a glance out of the window. “Would you like to go out for a walk? Sitting here for such a long time has made my legs stiff.”

Sidra was already up and stretching, She gave out a grunt as she felt her spine pop in order. It felt good. "Well I'm in the mechanic club right now but all I'm good at fixing is engines." her words sounded like a goofy sigh as she bolted from her mouth.
Her feet skipped in to a beat for a second as she did a strange jig. Sidra didn't know what she was doing..."I'm not strong, im just me, and ill do anything for him no matter what, because he is a good kid and his powers are the things that cause problems." she said with a smile. "I really love that kid though, hes grown so much here" she laughed. "But yeah there is a nice place to walk, it kinda looks like a park, its nice to just sit there and be all chillaxed and what not." she said with a wink.
"Onward good sir!" she whistled as she turned on her heals and pointed to the air. She started marching away when she froze for a moment, turned back and then grabbed the plate of kolachies stuck them in a paper bag and then in to her black side satchel. " Ok, we're goooood." she grinned.

You don’t look like a mechanic or an engineer!” Noel laughed slightly at the image of the tiny Sidra fiddling around with an engine, trying to fix back all the bits and pieces.
“I know how you feel. I’d do anything for her too.” A small sad smile crossed his face as he ended his sentence. If only… Shaking his head gently and a grin took over, he continued, “Really? Awesome! Let’s head over there, shall we? Would you lead the way?”
He followed her movements and when she stop abruptly to get a couple of kolachies, he can’t help but laugh at her cute gimmicks and grin. “Let’s go! I’ll be the candy supplier!”
