Name: Crour Glacies Nex
Age: 17
Sex: Male
Powers and Descriptions:
Ice Creation/Manipulation: Crour can, to a limited extent, use the water molecules in the air to create ice crystals (limited due to limited amount of moisture in air.) He can also animate or shape ice; making it into facsimiles of living creatures. Although they do remain ice colored.
Blood Control: Crour can control his own blood. Part of this power also caused his metabolism to skyrocket. He often has open wounds which ooze blood constantly; If he doesn't he is known to either cough up blood or sweat blood through his pores due to the excess blood in his veins. Once outside his body Crour can manipulate the blood similarly to the ice.
Minor Psionic Talent: Crour can somewhat sense other enhanced humans or non-humans. This power, however, has caused a psychosis to form in Crour's mind, a form of schizophrenia meaning that each "creature" he senses becomes a voice inside his head that, depending on how close it is, goes from whispering at him to screaming.
Personality:
Crour is somewhat bi-polar. He can be kind, compassionate, personable and even fairly caring; however these times are incredibly rare. Most of the time one will find Crour "locked-out" from the world, often sitting and shaking, mumbling or talking to himself. It isn't hard to shake him from this state. Merely talking to him or saying his name will do so; however he is never happy when it is done and will most likely be both rude and rather angry. Crour also suffers from severe Haphephobia (the fear of being touched or having his personal space invaded) meaning touching or closeness will warrant a very violent response.
Appearance:
Crour is of average height, around 5’9”. Thin and pale with an average build he is not the most intimidating of people. He wears mostly dark, long clothes. His clothing is often caked with dried blood, commonly around the wrists or on the collar. His eyes are a pale blue with pupils that are often unfocused. His hair is a bit below shoulder length and dark, it is kept in many forms; sometimes well groomed and nice, other times left disheveled for days at time. Most of his clothes are permeated with the iron like smell of blood. Also, the area he is in will usually be much colder than anywhere else nearby. This can get to the point where frost will sometimes form on the furniture near him.
History:
Crour was born in a small mountain town in Alaska. The town relies on mining to stay afloat. Very few other children were around in the town as Crour grew up, however he did manage to find a close friend in a young girl named Ketsueki. As a child he was known to wander off into the tundra and come back hours later perfectly fine despite the long hours and light clothing.
As Crour and Ketsueki grew up together they began to notice that they were both capable of doing things others couldn’t. In Ketsueki’s case it was the ability to create and control fire, where in Crour’s case it was the ability to create more of and control the ice around them. As they both got older they trained their capabilities together and kept each other's secret from the rest of the town. At around the time Crour turned 15 during one of the three month long periods of Night Crour’s happy life came to an end.
He was awakened in the darkness. At first, it sounded like a shrill alarm. What it turned out to be was screaming.
”THEIR AFTER YOUR BLOOD! RUN!”
He did run though, to his parents’ room. Both his mother and father were still sleeping. How could they be sleeping with all this screaming!?
That was when a shadow flits past Crour like smoke. It was almost instantly standing before his parents’ bed. His mother stirred, waking and sitting up. It was at that moment that the shadow, a vampire, ripped his mothers head from her shoulder, then before his father even awoke the vampire descended upon him, tearing out his throat, his limbs, and turning him to a mere pile of gore.
Crour ran. Blindly. Straight to Ketsueki’s house. He pounded on her front door for nearly five minutes before finally she answered. He was crying, his frozen tears streaked his face. He didn’t stop to think. He grabbed her wrist, and ran yet again; away from their houses, away from their town, out into the white expanse.
Using his control over ice he formed a cavern under the ground and once the two of them were inside of it, he sealed it above them, with naught but tiny air holes to breathe through. Shortly thereafter he passed out, without the slightest explanation.
During the night Ketsueki got cold and started herself a fire (Not all that difficult for a pyrokinetic) and accidentally melted the roof of their shelter. She climbed to the surface, made her fire anew above ground, and went to sleep. Unfortunately, vampires make very good trackers…
Crour awoke to a melted shelter. Panic set in, and he worried that the vampires had found the two of them. But when he looked around he found no evidence of such. Just Ketsueki, asleep aboveground with a fire. He woke her up and to his dismay she appeared sick. But sick or not they had to get further away. So the two of them started their trek away from the town once more, Crour helping Ketsueki as much as he could.
Ketsueki could not seem to keep down food. She said it tasted foul, and every time she tried to eat, it ended up back on the ground. She could barely even keep down water. Crour was getting rather worked up and worried. On top of this, Ketsueki was getting very irritable, and at times downright violent. It was as though part of her mind was breaking with the sickness. Two days later he would find out what was really wrong…
The vampire had been following them all along. Not only that, but when he decided to reveal himself he also threw in the fact that he had not only tracked them with ease, but had sired Ketsueki in her sleep without her even knowing it. He continued to explain that that was why she was sick, and could not eat. He then simply pointed out that there was a very convenient source of blood quite nearby. Crour.
At this knowledge Ketsueki snapped. She completely lost it, and in her insanity and hunger induced rage she went straight for Crour.
Writing sample:
Crour watched as she lost it before his very eyes. “Ketsueki. Please, snap out of it. Everything is going to be okay…” he pleaded, not wanting to have to fight the last person in this world that he cared for. But as he watched flames began to ignite all around them both. That is when he saw the wave of flames being hurled towards him. He threw his arms up in front of his face, as he did a wall of ice exploded out of the ground and got in the way, protecting him.
”SHE WANTS YOUR BLOOD! KILL HER!”
No. He couldn’t do that. He could never hurt Ketsueki. Just then is when his wall finished melting and the flames reached out, licking at his skin and clothes. He threw his hands forwards, burning them in the process, and launched a boulder of compacted ice directly at Ketsueki. In her enraged state she could not react fast enough to dodge the ice, and it hit her dead on, knocking her to the ground. At this point Cruer’s eyes dilated completely. He flicked his burned hands upwards and watched what the ice did next…
Two long, thick spikes of ice erupted from the ground beneath Ketsueki, impaling her through each shoulder. She screamed in agony, unable to break free from the compacted, searing cold ice. He tilted his head to the side, listening to her scream through deaf ears. Then he turned to face the other vampire and a wide, psychotic smile spread across his lips. ”You next.” he said, his voice low, almost inaudible.
He flicked both his burned hands up, forming an X at his wrists. Then, with a sharp, quick motion he whipped his hands to his sides. Two blades of ice from alternating directions appeared out of nowhere. The vampire didn’t even have a chance to see them, let alone react. Each one impacted the base of the vampires’ skull, decapitating him. He walked over and lifted up the vampires head, looking into its lifeless eyes with his own empty gaze. He then formed a hole next to him in the ice; it led all the way to the water a quarter mile below. He simply extended his arm and dropped the vampires head into the hole.
Crour turned away from the decapitated corpse of the vampire and walked back toward his fallen friend. Ketsueki was screaming at him in pain and anger as he got closer; as he neared her he saw that she was losing a lot of blood. Tears filled Crour’s eyes as he came back to himself, face to face with the only person in the world he still had, that he still cared for. “Ketsueki... I'm sorry, I'm so sorry. I let you down. I let everyone down. I... I got you all killed. But I don't want to lose you too!" Crour screamed the last part as his tears flowing freely now fell onto Ketsueki face and froze instantly.
Crour remembered that she needed blood. If he didn't want to lose her too she needed blood, his blood. Crour lowered one of his arms toward the young vampire's face. Without even the slightest hesitation Ketsueki bit into Crour's arm, his blood filling her mouth. She drank greedily before the blood itself forced her mouth open and let Crour remove his arm. Instantly he was holding the wound with his other hand. For a few moments he waited, hoping she would become herself again. But he was not rewarded with a kind voice; only more screaming; about the pain, about her family, about him…
The next few minutes felt like hours as Ketsueki yelled until her voice was gone completely and she was left sobbing. Crour leaned down over his friend; he whispered one more apology and kissed her forehead “I’m sorry. I'm so sorry. I loved you, really I did. I'm sorry…" Crour began to run, the whole time screaming how he was sorry and how he loved her…
Epilogue:
After that day Crour did not stop running. He ran until the months of night ended and he was found by a small city, hiding in one of the government buildings; crying and mumbling to himself. Since then he has been taken in by many different foster families; each passing him off after his ‘difficulties’ overwhelmed them. Eventually he ended up in Texas, where he was told about Solstice Academy, and that he would probably be better off there.
After that he disappeared from his foster home (His thirteenth by all records.) There were reports of a child in a dark jacket walking out onto a Texas beach and into the waves on a path of frozen water. That was six months ago.
