Name: Michael Vincent Fredricks
Age: 19
Sex: male
Occupation: Student
Powers and Descriptions:
Technologykinesis
Mike can control and communicate with electrical equipment through his mind. It speaks to him in binary just as all programmed electrical equipment processes. He cannot make the technology do anything outside of its programming or purpose. Example: He cannot make a computer sprout legs and walk away, but he can make it turn on and off and run any process he wants it to. Such as deleting System 32.
Weapons and Technology
While this is not a power it should be noted.
Mike has a variety of adaptive weapons and a set of adaptive weaponized armor. It is prototype technology that responds and changes to his commands. It works in the same way simple building blocks work but with microchips that he can communicate with to move and construct into the kind of weapons he needs to do what he needs to accomplish. He prefers to use non-lethal weapons.
One piece that he always keeps the same is his sun glasses that attempts to determine the type of defensive and offensive abilities his opponents have and to what degree they are in control based on the fields around them.
Personality:
Mike is the average bookworm with the need to reach out once in a while. He prefers to be alone, but the times he needs someone becomes extreme. After a few days of doing nothing but research or testing a piece of technology he begins to feel lonely and sink into a bit of an emotional hole. After that point he leaves the research alone to go out and socialize. He prefers to spend his alone time ironically where people can come across him by chance. That once in a while interruption gives him a window of opportunity to show off something he was working on...or test it. He does like to boost his ego a little bit by impressing the less tech-savy.
Another way of proving his skills he often accepts challenges or makes them in order to test new or reformatted equipment. Despite his lack of physical abilities he bolsters himself with his technology.
Appearance:
Imagine your average skinny scientist without a bowl haircut or buck-teeth. Mike isn't very tall standing at 5'7". He wears clothes that fit close to his body often, they collide less when he wears his armors or fittings. He has a medium muscle tone. He doesn't have enough to fool anyone into thinking he works out, but enough that he does not look like he suffers from anorexia. His genetically altered high metabolism keeps him at fair health despite his eating habits and low physical activity. Many people do not get to see it behind his sunglasses(which bear more of a resemblance to goggles), but Mike has light green eyes with a yellowish tint to them.
History:
Mike lived a normal life for the first fifteen years. Two parent household, two older sisters, a younger brother, a grandfather, and an aunt who all lived in a large house, sustained by the grandfather's patent of a candy that changed the industry years ago. His parents and aunt worked as a way to pay off a few extra bills like their cars and a few house keepers once a week. It wasn't the life of glamor and fortune, but it was a very comfortable life with decent luxuries. Not upper class, but definitely the top tier of the upper-middle.
Four days after the family was interviewed about Mike's grandfather's candy-making history for a local TV news station, Mike received a scholarship to a boarding school. None that he had signed up for, nor his parents. He was only 11 and had decent grades in school, nothing spectacular to warrant the sudden scholarship, but it was to a legitimate school and he legitimately had a scholarship. Him nor his parents would have wanted to pass this opportunity.
Five months later he went to the airport to board a flight first-class at night from his hometown in Oklahoma to Washington D.C., it would connect from there to Florida. However, when the plane started heading west, Mike started to get a strange feeling. Soon the atmosphere of the plane started to change, everyone on board began to talk to each other as if they all knew each other. The person next to him, now that he had begun to look around, was the only person on the entire plane not dressed in formal attire. She wore tight jeans and a V-neck shirt. She was in her early twenties, blonde, and extremely attractive.
He held her hand to him. "Hi, Michael. My name in Alexis. Do you like Mike better?" She introduced herself. She smiled warmly and seemed the complete opposite of everyone else on the plane. He shook her hand while giving her a look of questioning about how she knew his name and why she seemed the only one like him on this entire plane.
"Its nice to meet you...And yes, Mike." He did feel a bit awkward. He was never good with talking to girls and this one looked like a model to him.
She giggled a little. "Look Mike, I need to confess. You aren't going to a boarding school. We are taking you to Area 51. I'm sorry we had to trick you, but this was the only way to get you to us secretly."
"What?" Mike asked. He had no other words. Area 51? The aliens place? He wasn't an alien as far as he knew.
"Hmm, so you don't know about your powers, that is okay, that is what we are here for. Mike you aren't like me or anyone else. You have a special gift of some sort. Look here." Alexis pulled a bag from under her seat and pulled out a laptop, she popped a disc in, "Watch this."
The interview with Mike's grandfather played on the screen. When the rest of the family came into the picture a lightbulb flickered just as Mike walked past it. Alexis pointed that out to him They all sat down together and the grandfather went on with the interview.
"So what, I'm weird because of a lightbulb?" He questioned.
"Shhh." She pointed back to the screen.
At the part where his grandfather talked about someone trying to steal his patent Mike's little brother was trying to annoy Mike in the background by poking the side of his head. Every time Mike was poked, the screen became slightly static. Alexis pointed this out too. "Now watch this." She whispered. When Mike punched his brother in the arm after being fed up with the annoyance the screen flickered wildly for just a second until his mother whispered, "Stop it dammit." The entire rest of the interview went fine. At the very end when the family walked off screen, the picture suddenly sharpened and became crystal clear. Alexis closed the laptop.
"It seems like you and electricity have a sort of connection. And that's why we are taking you to Area 51. You aren't in trouble, you won't be harmed, we just want to watch you and have you learn to use this ability." Alexis explained.
Mike was in total shock and barely heard a word she said. "I can't believe it." The lights started flickering on the plane and it shook slightly.
Alexis placed her hand on his shoulder and the plane regained power and steadied. "Mike it's okay. You are going to be fine. You can still talk to your family, visit them during the summer and holidays, and you will have a lot less school. And if it makes you feel any better I will be with you the whole time." She gave the same warm smile, Mike felt safe in a way. "You will have friends there. Eat what ever you want. Any video games you want. Sports. TV. But you have to keep it a secret. If you can I promise you the best few years a guy can ever have."
A half hour or so after recovering from the shock, Mike agreed to start this new life.
The next three years Mike lived exactly as Alexis promised. He had a private teacher for only a few hours a day. All the video games he asked for. A huge television. And then special toys and trinkets. All were electrically powered, he learned over the years to control them and to get information back from certain ones that recorded. Mike became so fluent in binary and hexadecimal he could understand it as if reading English. All of this with her by his side.
He visited his parents every summer, but only visited for one winter holiday, only because they guilt tripped him into coming. He obeyed the rule of no talking about what happened, and no using his powers around people.
At the age of eighteen, he started taking on assignments to help design equipment for the United States military such as rockets, guns, and programs for various technologies already in place. But his biggest assignment was pieces of technology that could be remotely controlled to transform. It was also his last assignment at Area 51. There was not much more they needed him at the base for, and he could not make an weaponized armor and weapons transform remotely. As far as he told them.
Alexis knocked on the door to his room. He had a tiny camera set up, it displayed on his television her with a cake. Mike looked at his calendar. He had forgotten it was his nineteenth birthday. The door opened without prompt or anyone doing anything, Mike programmed it. "Happy Birthday. Hunny." Alexis joked often about the lie they had made that she was his girlfriend from the school. She was only seven years older than Mike, but could pass for his age when he turned seventeen with a small amount of convincing dress, attitude, and make up.
Mike blew out the candles on the small cake for two and they enjoyed it. Vanilla cake, whipped cream frosting with a very light hint of strawberry. She knew him too well at that point. They sat and talked like normal. Then she let out a sigh. "Michael, there is something I need to tell you. You are being let off the base. They are bringing in new people like you to train with. But, on the other hand you are being given a monthly salary for the rest of your life that will pay for all expenses for a normal life with a...girlfriend."
Alexis blushed and looked down. Mike smiled. He moved over to her. He kissed her, but it was really different this time. Sure, they had kissed in the past, they even had sex a few times since he turned eighteen. But now there was real emotion to it. "Yes, you can come with me." He kissed her again.
Another knock on the door. He looked at the camera. There was an endless hallway of men armed to the teeth with revolvers and bulletproof vests. Mike had seen them before. He knew he couldn't hope to control them. One man was unarmed and was the closest to the door. He was the only one to speak.
"Michael Fredricks, this is Major Thomas Black, please come out unarmed. Alexis, you are under arrest for treason, conspiracy to commit treason, compromising prototype United States arms, attempting to transport stolen goods, and the sale of United States arms to terrorist organizations. Come out with your hands where we can see them."
Mike looked over at Alexis whose face was in shock. She looked back at him with tears in her eyes.
"You...lied?"
"Michael, I'm so sorry I..."
Michael jumped off his bed away from her. The door opened, immediately being followed by at least ten men storming in with guns aimed at them both.
"I won't fight, take her." Michael looked down.
Two men placed Alexis in hand cuffs and escorted her out of his room. Guns were placed in holsters except one. The armed man had his gun directly at Mike.
"Major Black, what is going on?" Mike looked confused, "I had no part in any of this, she used me."
The Major sighed. "Yes, but now we are afraid its possible you may have helped her provide a wireless up-link to her outsiders, and that you will continue to do so. I'm sorry Michael, it has to happen."
The armed man pulled the hammer back. In that instant a glow shone from Mike's pocket. A bullet was fired, and it stopped, flattening against air.
"That prototype I was working on. It is done, I was going to install the remote chip in it next week after I was completely sure it could work. No notes are left now on your computers, they have just been erased, along with my last ten designs." Mike's expression scowled at the Major, "Alexis betrayed me. You, the one who had thousands saved because of me, betrayed me. Who am I to trust? I am taking all of my inventions that you have no notes on."
The Major's face turned into fright, "You wouldn't! That is treason!"
"Maybe so, but without me, you wouldn't have it anyway, so what does it matter?"
A white and silver exoskeleton suit opened his closet door from the inside, holding various weapons and began walking to Mike. The man with the revolver opened fire, the bullets ricocheted off of the suit. A hand from the suit faced the Major and the armed man. A pressure wave flowed from the hand and threw everyone else back against the wall. Michael threw a small device on the ground to which it latched on. "In two minutes all of the electronics in this building will overheat and melt down unless I command it not to. That's phones, electronics, lighting, air conditioning, and all my designs. You have notes on most of them, but good luck explaining how they are built to your manufacturers. "
The exoskeleton suit attached itself to Michael. The roof of his room opened up. A jet pack on the back of the suit shot Michael out holding a handful of prototype weapons.
After they were well out of range, the entire building went dark.
Fighter air crafts searched above while trucks scanned the ground. None could see him or detect him on radar, the suit was in an invisible and stealth state. He escaped freely.
He was not worried about being found. There was no weapon the military had he could not shut down before it became a threat. He was not worried about food. He already had a good amount of cash from the last time he went to visit his family. He wasn't worried about them either, he knew they were too high profile to vanish and the military knew he had a wire tap on the house, there was no sneaking in. He wasn't worried about a place to stay. There was a place for people like him off the south-east coast.
The only thing that Michael worried about was Alexis. He knew the blackout gave her a chance to escape. What would she do if she found him? However, the bigger worry was: What will she do when she finds him?"
