Ace didn't say much to his words, only adding, "Well, they can be a hindrance for some, I'm sure... But I know a good number that think not having them is ten-times shittier." Ace couldn't exactly turn her power off honestly, but that didn't mean it was 100% accurate. She was a more difficult target, but wasn't by a long shot untouchable.
"It doesn't matter anyway, you're right. People do need to move on." She agreed with him, her voice slightly down, as though she was thinking about something else. She focused again when he started talking about being a mechanic. She continued to mess with her sleeves, still wanting a cigarette quite desperately.
Ace laughed, "Sure thing, dude. I'll be sure to." She said with a small half-smile. Ace didn't seem to give full expressions. "Rust, isn't it?" She repeated his name to make sure she would remember it just in the case that something did bust. It was easy to buy a new one sure, but fixing it would be the frugal thing.
They walked in silence for a bit, and eventually Ace realized that he was expecting her to say something. Oh right. "Uh, so yeah..." She began with a hint of awkwardness, "So, are you looking forward to being here? Or are you dreading it?"
She wondered to herself what kind of question she just asked. Ace wasn't ever very good with people. Hadn't she heard that answer already? She opened her mouth to say something different but couldn't come up with anything.

"Yeah, it's Rust. And don't worry about it. S'what friends do, right?"
The silence carried on for a bit before Ace got the hint and asked him something in return. And it was a good one.
"Honestly? Meeting more people like me- like us, I mean. Kind of a dream come true. At first, you always think you're alone, know what I mean?" the mechanic replied thoughtfully. "Besides, ad for a school on a tropical island where majority of the time you pick and choose what you want to do? How the hell does that NOT sound like a good idea?"
They carried on for a bit more until Rust spoke again.
"In terms of dreading it... I dunno, guess I don't like leaving my Mom on her own like that. No siblings, so... Yeah. Apart from that, maybe I'm a little apprehensive about meeting a few people who go a bit O.T.T with their powers and egos. We were talking about the type earlier, I think. Can't stand people like that, to be honest."
He looked over at the girl.
"If you get tired of me blabbering your ear off, just let me know, alright? Not exactly the best at shutting up when I get started."

Ace nodded, glad she could actually remember someone's name for once. He called them friends. She blinked, thinking about the fact they had known each other for less than an hour. "Well, you really jump the gun with that, don't you." She said shaking her head. She didn't say she disagreed, simply that he was very presumptuous for saying so. Anyway, she mostly figured that it was only a figure of speech.
"Really? Yeah, I guess I do know what you mean... I was one of the few people I knew that had an ability." She admitted, surprised to hear herself actually give away a piece of information. She decided then to reel herself in some. She couldn't be getting too comfortable around anyone, she reminded herself.
"Yeah it is a great idea, honestly. Whoever came up with this place was a freaking genius. I mean, it looks great on paper, if you know what I mean. It gets to be what you expect though. If a student of solstice had to go to standard education afterwards, they wouldn't exactly be pleased... I guess you could say we're a bit spoiled here..." It felt strange to say that Ace was spoiled, but she couldn't help but understand it as truth.
He readily told her about him not having any siblings, that he had a mom, and by the sounds of it no dad..."I know what you mean. These people need to get their head out of their ass. Shouldn't worry about it too much though, I mean, they're annoying but so are a lot of people." She shrugged.
"Don't worry about that either." She half-grinned, "I'm not much of the talking type myself, so I suppose the 'listening' type comes to mind." She said easily. Whether or not she actually listened was a different matter, but she would try, since he obviously expected her to. Besides, she hadn't found him annoying so far.

"Clearly you haven't talked to me for a long time," Rust shot back. "Seriously, I can get irritating quick. At least according to some. And hey, if I weren't a friend, why offer Doritos? Crisp of the Gods, woman."
Looking around the area in which they walked, easily keeping up despite the heavier bags, the mechanic couldn't help but be astounded by the natural beauty of the place. It really was a paradise. Screw Ace having the luck abilities, Rust was feeling pretty damn blessed himself at this rate.
"And well...if we're spoiled, just gotta work hard to show we've earned it, I suppose. Ain't gonna be worth it otherwise. Plus...I'd get my ass kicked when I got home." he joked, "Seriously though...loving the place so far. Any teachers or lecturers I should look out for? Y'know, the hardasses?"

Ace gave a small laugh, "Nah, I guess I haven't. I'll take your word for it though. I'll make sure to let you know when you get irritating." She said with a hint of bravado. "Huh, Eh, Doritos are good yeah... As for why I offered them? Well... Why wouldn't I?" She asked simply. She wasn't admitting to friendship yet. Besides, she liked to make things difficult like that.
The trees were beginning now, and soon they would be walking under the cover of the forest, which would shade them from the harsh summer sun. It was already feeling a bit cooler, the air already a little bit more fresh. "Well, here's where it gets all tropical." She said simply, listening to the sounds of the birds and other animals that had made their home in the man-made forest.
"Glad ya like it." She said, "I'd say Mrs. Zede would be considered a hard-ass. Teaches Ethics and shit, I don't even know." She laughed brashly when she was thinking about that woman, only to realize that she was a bit too loud, and quieted herself with a half-smile. "You'll seem, I'm sure. She also teaches sword-play and stuff..." She shrugged, still smiling a bit.
"Well, then, are you ready for the great exploration?" She wondered with an eyebrow raised. If he had wanted to change his mind about going into the forest, it was a bit too late now. Ace didn't even wait for a response before heading in, moving an overhanging bundle of vines aside to gain access...
