Name: Desmond Abdul-Nasser
Age: 18
Sex: Male
Powers and Descriptions: Ghost Shroud Desmond has the power to render himself intangible and invisible, or one of the two, for a short period of time. He does this at will, as the concentration requirement is rather steep. While in this state of intangibility, he can pass through people without being noticed, walk through walls, allow dangerous things to pass through him, etc.
Personality: Desmond tends to take things seriously, but he's a rather friendly person when you get past that. . He's literal-minded, which can make him the butt of a few jokes. He likes making sure that people who act inappropriately get their comeuppance, but will on occasion cause pranks and the like himself.
His serious demeanor, however, dissolves when he's having a blast. When he doesn't feel restrained, he can be one of the most fun people you've ever met. However, once he decides that such behavior is inappropriate for the situation, he goes back to being serious.
Appearance: Desmond is rather tall, at 6'3. His skin is darker than the norm, a combination of his Arabic heritage and the time he spent in the outdoors. He tends to keep his hair cut short, so it doesn't prove an annoyance or a distraction, and it's color is jet black.
He's fond of clothes that don't feel restrictive. He likes wearing a hooded white jacket, and if the weather proves too hot, as it often will in the Bahamas, he tends to wear a white t-shirt and jeans. He always wears a pair of black, fingerless gloves, even when he sleeps.
History: Desmond was a rather troublesome boy. Given up for adoption, he spent most of his childhood in a rather run-down orphanage in the city of New York. There, he'd often gotten into fights, which he usually won, due to a combination of street-learned basic fighting, as well as an uncommon ability not to take hits. In this way, people didn't want to fight him, though he didn't yet know this was a power of his, only that when he saw a fist flying at him, he focused on blocking, concentrating on not getting hit.
Whenever he could, Desmond would leave the orphanage, and explore the city. He'd adapted a talent for climbing and navigating quickly through the city's confusing alleys and rooftops, and it had become a common sight to see him jumping from roof to roof, becoming a bit of a mascot for the neighborhood. He'd even gotten a bit of work taking packages quickly around the neighborhood.
When his powers fully manifested, he'd used it to get into places he really shouldn't have tried to. Though he was a decent study, and didn't need it, he found it all too easy to ghost right in to his teacher's attendance records, Test answers, etc. Trying to stop him before he did anything stupid, a teacher, one Mario Lombardi, who suspected him cornered him, and let him read an old Spider-man comic, stressing some of the messages it taught about responsibility. Taking him under his wing, the teacher instilled in him a his general respect of authority, though he still loved being free.
After a several years passed, he'd managed to keep his powers from becoming public knowledge, thanks to the teacher he considered a father figure, and kept in contact with. Aware that they were not the average, he tried to keep them hidden in order to fit in. However, when he was on his way to school, he saw the teacher being mugged. Jumping down to help, he was quickly overpowered by the thirty-odd year old gang member, and tragically, after he tried to dodge a knife slash by going ephemeral, he solidified with a metal pole inside of the man's head. Needless to say, the result was gruesome.
After the police report, it was obvious that the death was impossible by normal means. As a result of this, the police believed the circumstances were different, and that the teacher was lying to help his student. In an attempt to clear their names, Desmond showed his powers to them, and after the police calmed down from shock, they'd offered two choices only.
Either go to the Solstice Academy, or be charged for the murder of the gangster. It was obvious that the police did not take kindly to his powers, and wanted him the hell away. Despite the teacher arguing against it, Desmond accepted the offer. He was still in shock after actually killing someone, and the thought of controlling the powers he had felt like the best thing to do, regardless of the circumstances.
